Default MY CAR GOT STOLEN!

i am dong rotations in Chicago for my 3rd yr med school and i live west of south loop in a pretty decent area i would say. last night i parked my car at 9:45 at night on the street. I came out at 5:30 to go to the hospital and my car wasn't there, initially i thought it was towed maybe cause the possibility of it being stolen really didnt make sense because there were avg to nice cars parked around me, including 2012 Audi A7 and 2010 Mercedes ML. Well I checked all the websites towing websites, according to VIN, license plate #, street and time.. nothing came up, i looked more closely at the place where my car was parked and I saw glass on the floor... car was def stolen. If you see anyone parting out a 2003 Black on black Honda s2000 it could be my car! it was almost completely stock. The only slightly distinguishing factors on it were a 10 inch sub in the back, k&N filter, different shift knob, thats about it. It also has a 6 inch horiznatl scrape on the hood thats not easily visible but def there from when the guy painting it messed up. If anyone sees it or anything resembling it let me know. the front license plate is also on the windshield and i have many small dings on the windshield because of hwy driving. This sucks. I doubt it will show up and it is probably already in pieces. 15 days before insurance cuts me a check for whatever they think its worth after the 1000$ deductible. Any ideas on how much i might get back or if they use kbb or what would " market value" be? sucks cause i got the front half the car painted just recently to make up for all the hwy nicks on the paint.

Wow, sorry to hear...this is the third or fourth stolen one I've seen posted about in the Chicagoland area this year. I came across this thread by chance and would suggest posting in the Upper Midwest (UMW) forum or having this thread moved there for some local support. Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's much we can do besides staying informed.

Goddamn, I'm sorry to hear that... I think I'd be a lot more upset than you are. Hopefully insurance cuts you a good deal and you can buy a better one. Insurance won't use kbb I know from experience but if you think they are ripping you off you can fight it. Threaten to sue, say you called your lawyer or whatever I did that when my s2k was hit last fall and the insurance payout magically went up.

I hope there's a special spot in Hell for people who take what others have worked hard for. Hopefully you come out on top in one way or another.

Edit: It's also crazy how populated of an area thieves can steal from. I was in Chicago last November at the Park West music venue and parked really close to the venue. Came out after the concert and my rental had a busted window and our luggage was gone. We didn't have time to go to our lodging beforehand otherwise our stuff wouldn't have been in the car. Thankfully my audio equipment was inside the venue with me.

And you probably are already doing this, but maybe monitoring Craigslist would be one thing to do in this situation.
