Check engine light
This morning on the way to work my "maintenance required light" came on. A few minutes later the "check engine light" came on. I pulled over at a gas station and pulled out the manual. I checked the gas cap and it was tight. To be sure I went ahead and took the cap off and put it back on making sure to hear 3 clicks. I went to Autozone at lunch and they plugged in and confirmed the code was because of a loose gas cap. The manual says the check engine light should go off after 3 drives with the cap tightened. It's been 4 now and it is still on. It's a 2003 and only has 21,xxx miles on it. I can't imagine a sensor went out so soon. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Be patient. It may take a little longer. I know from experience.
Have you made any engine modifications lately?

Yeah, I wouldn't bother waiting... I would just reset the ECU by pulling the radio fuse or disconnecting the negative wire on the battery. Just remember to have your radio code handy!

A bit more rare, but it could be a bad seal on the gas cap causing it to vent. If it doesn't go away after a few more days, try a different gas cap. They're the same on all hondas after 2001, so if you know someone with another honda, just swap and see.

I researched the whole gas cap thing not too long ago and concluded that it's actually the filler neck that is faulty. So basically, if the gas cap isn't sealing correctly, the ultimate solution for that is to replace the whole fuel filler pipe. See UTH. That might not be the OP's issue tho, if he's certain that it is indeed sealing properly. The filler neck probrem is pretty common in MY02s and early MY03s tho. I have a PDF of TSB 04-002 I can e-mail to you if you'd like.

It can take up to 250 solid miles before the computer cycles enough times to automatically erase the evap code (fuel cap). Trust me on this...mine is complete crap...6 seperate CELs just for that this year alone...its been a four year battle with that little bastard.
