08-09 CR uses same 8.5 wide rear wheels with 255 tires. check out the honda facotry specs.
CR runs Bridgestone Potenza RE070s 255/40R17 on 8.8 x 17 wheels which are same offset as the base S2000 model wheels running 245/40R17 in Potenza RE050. RE070 is stickier compound given the CR mission.

You'd have to prove to me that widening the rear tires would negatively affect the handling of any car. That is exactly what I did on my AP1 when I wanted to put an end to the "waggy" nature of the car from the factory (worked like a champ). Later, after putting the SC onto the car, I still had no issues.
I bought a pair of 255's to mount onto my AP2 (prior to the accident), but never actually mounted them. I certainly didn't anticipate any difficulty with the handling based upon that change. I think you'd be fine making the update.
