Waaaay of topic here
I installed a retaining wall island in my front yard and around teh front perimiter of my house and bought what I was told was "clean" fill to back fill both areas. Now they are both full of weeds and I'm tired of using roundup only to have the shit come back 2 weeks later. I want to kill this stuf but not leave the soil toxic as I want to plant / finish landscaping shortly after. What can I do?

Best bet is to pick the weeds and be sure to pull the whole weed out, including the roots. Leave any roots behind and they just come back. Once you pull them out, spray the Round Up as a preventative measure.
I did lots of weed pulling growing up as a kid.

The mat suggestion is a great idea but it can also back fire so be sure to clear out all weeds first hand before putting it down. My parents did it and the weeds just ending up growing beneath it and then grew to poke through. Made my job even harder.
Haven't tried the clear plastic idea but is worth a shot.
