Default Terrible differential noise

Hey guys. Got a question. I am driving down the road and kind of step on it for a second. All of a sudden I hear a terrible clicking noise coming from the differential!
My destination was just a couple of minutes away so I decided to continue driving. Well I call the Coggin Honda here in Jacksonville and they tell me just to drive it about 10 minutes to where they are. After they checked it out the said I need a whole new differential! For a used one they are charging 2200 bucks and a new one 4300! I know I can probably get a cheaper one myself but does anyone have any ideas where I can get one, and if so whether it would make more sense to have someone else, like a local non-honda buisness install it for me. This is a real bad time for this to happen, I leave for Officer Candidate School on saturday and want this to be taken care of ASAP. Thanks a lot for the help!

Chris - sorry to hear about your car. Maybe it was caused my the Supa Sang Elephant Nose Mod? j/k bad joke.

Check with Stage 6 and tell them I sent you. Ask for Ricky (but anyone can help you) at 733-7271. They are located at 5105 Phillips Hwy., Suite 5 in Jacksonville. (Basically Phillips near University area). I doubt this can be fixed before Saturday so don't hold your breath but they work on Hondas, Acuras, you name it. They've worked on my car and I was referred to them by Slo S2k (Charles) on this board. Our old buddy J had his turbo built there years ago.

Chris,

You may want to check these two threads before you spend gobs of money (just in case it's one of the issues mentioned in these threads).

I have a stock 01 differential in my garage that has all new seals and has been totally cryogenically treated. $900 it is yours. I'm in Tampa.

I knew Jeff had the goods but I did not want to speak in his stead in case he had plans for his parts already.

My money would be on his diff all the way. re-sealed and cryoed = in my book

Hey thanks for the offer. That is a really good price on the cryo diff but I am stock, I really dont need a cryo one. Or maybe I do... I must have a freak F20 that produces 300 hp, thats why I broke the first one....haha, anyways I will keep you informed, it is a definate possibility.

for 900.00 who cares

my math may be off a little but 900.00 Vs. 2200.00 or 4300.00 seems like a no brainer, even if you have to come get it in a truck one weekend.

Let us know what you decide

Chris - if you need a new diff then I would definitely consider Jeff's in all seriousness. Less money but better because of the treatments he's done. He knows what he's doing BIG TIME. Heck if you go to Tampa to get it done it might be easier to just have 2NRWerks install it (Todd). Another top notch guy that has worked on my car. My 2 cents anyway.

Right. Definately a good deal. How large is the differential? Can it be shipped? I am in contact with Stage 6 and they are looking for a diff. How big of a deal is it to install one of these things, cost wise and time wise? Thanks a lot!
