My poor, poor S....but she was a testament to the strength of Honda engineering!

Hey guys...thanks for all the well-wishes and stuff. Yeah, got to spend almost 5 hours in the ER getting x-rays and CT-scan done. Just chilling around the house groovin' on some muscle relaxers right now.

Anywho...the story: Driving along on Gunn Hwy and the few cars in front of me are all stopping short, so I get on the brakes with plenty of time. Look up into my rear-view and see this Saturn that doesn't seem to be slowing. Luckily for the guys in front of me I instinctively started turning to the right...just didn't have time to hammer the gas when I looked back up and realized she was going to hit me. She popped me squarely in the rear (no laughing at my choice of words ) and that pushed me forward to the right. Then I looked up and realized that there was a nice big wooden telephone pole and my right corner was making a bee-line for it. *Crunch* goes the front right corner and headlight assembly and the left side submarined into the grass embankment. Quite a rollercoaster ride...lol.

A few other details in the story, but important thing is everyone came out with just some bumps and muscle strain. I was very thankful that the woman driving behind the car that hit me was not involved since she was pregnant and had a 9-10 year old female passenger. Thank God for small miracles

Damage to my baby was the rear end has some slight buckling in the trunk assembly and the rear bumper cover was crushed. Front right quarter-panel is buckled up and the corner is crushed in nicely. Oh, and the left exhaust pipe is kinda dangling. Anywho, I'm going to fight to have her totalled out so I can get a new one since that car will never drive the same.

Ok, done typing for now...I'll update as things progress.

-Jack

P.S. Thank goodness this didn't happen before the SPGP or I really would've been PISSED!!! LMAO!!

Jack - Glad your ok! If your insurance does not total the car and she does not "feel" right driving down the road, file a claim with them and then have the frame alignment checked. If it's out of alignment, it is doubtful they will have the car racked where this is an EXPENSIVE endeavor and is usually only performed on cars over $60K. If your insurance does the right thing, they will have it checked first before placing any money into it else if they act like a normal pound scum insurance company, file suit on them

wow man sounds like it could have been much worse, thank God for the small miracles. I was rearended once (disclaimer...) whiplash is no joke, I could barely walk the next day or two.

hopefully the insurance company will do what's right and total the car. front and rear damage you should have an easy fight... the only claim I ever had was with USAA and they were awesome to work with, but I guess all insurance companies are different.

Glad yall are ok
Happy Easter!

I am glad to hear no one was hurt. I know cars can be replaced, people cannot.

Just don't let the insurance company drag you along. USAA was good to me one time. I had no claims, accidents, tickets in 10 years. Then bam, One deer hitting the car, a hit and run, and stolen all in three months. Three claims and USAA got stupid. Raised me for comp claims with me being not at fault. Had a lot of arguing over settlements.

Just rest easy and enjoy Easter Sunday.

Take care everyone.

Great advice guys...I certainly appreciate it. Luckily for me I also bought gap insurance when I got the car just in case it was ever totalled

Yeah Raven, I'm with USAA and they've generally been great with me.

I've decided I need to go with a different color if this one is totalled out... too much bad luck with silver cars for me. lol

state of Florida insurance says vehicle must have 70% worth of damage, of the total cost of the car, in other words like in my case, back when I first bought the S I had a collison with a 18-wheeler, paid 22k for the car after finance, damage to the car 12k(roughly), not quite 70% so no total, but no frame damage either just aesthetic's. replaced fender L & R, new bumper, new headlights L/R, new quarter panel, new hood, new airpump, new wheels. post some pics soon so we can see what your working with.

P.S. Glad everyone is ok
