I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often(referring to the first article). When people are speeding they usually aren't paying attention either. I've always thought walking in front of a speeding vehicle and expecting the driver to notice you and stop is a little too optimistic. The other article doesn't mention the officer being on duty. They make it sound as if he was just riding his personal motorcycle and got hit. Police aren't riding Kawasakis now are they?

They do, they just look like the Harley Cop bike set up.

You've got a good point: police officers jumping in front of speeding traffic isn't the safest maneuvre. However, he did RUN after the incident.

The last incident did sound like an officer off duty who was riding a Ninja or something. Maybe if motorcyclists would keep their headlights on at all times, accidents like that wouldn't happen (I hate seeing sport bikes with no lights! as if they're not hard enough to spot anyway..)

Stuff like this makes me wish there were more efficient ways of monitoring who can drive and who can't....

It definitely wasn't a Ninja...

Not sure about other bikes, but sportbikes don't have a light switch - if it's running, the lights are on (unless the bulb is out or the owner disconnected it )

Plus, I think the law is that all mc's must run a headlight.
