S2000 security / alarm
Hi,
Everybody talks about the definate musts "seat locks" , "Top of the line alarm system" and "full insurance coverage" and a "garage"
Recently there have been a lot of posts about cars getting stolen. Is there anything that can be bought or installed
in a car that can be used after a car is stolen. Example: Lo-Jack or some type of GPS tracking device so that the
car can be located quickly (hopefully).
Any feedback is greatly appreciated, and I already know Lo-Jack can be expensive and those GPS trackers might not
work inside warehouses.
thanks
omar

Along with the above mentioned, please don't forget to label, etch and engrave wherever possible. No joking! But to answer your question, some of us are using zoombak.com devices and similar products. Check out gpstrackingreview.com for info.

yes there are several gps trackers out there, they all have an anual fee and limited on how many tracks (pings) you can get, the more tracks the more $.
Personally, good alarm, be smart on how/where you park, and good insurance, have your upgrades, improvements, itemized with your insurance company.

A cheap alternative is to buy a pre paid cell phone. You wire the charger into the electrical system and hide it anywhere on the car. So if the thieves cut the power source from the car the phone will still be charged long enough for police to trace the signal. It doesn't have to be an active phone. Notice how you can make a 911 phone call even with a deactivated phone. Modern phones have GPS tracking built into them for police and EMS to locate you in case of emergency. So for $50 you have a cheap GPS tracking system.
