Seriously? 50k seems low - is that on the extreme end (eg, a track-only car) or are people replacing at 50k for a street car too?
My car is a street car that sees lots of highway and lots of track time but i shift and start the car with respect. The condition my mounts were in at 72K was laughable. This along with the before and after of the engine and shifter jumping around at start up lead me to believe they should have been changed long before 72K. 50K was an assumption on my part i admit but i assumed with confidence knowing there are ppl who track a lot without respecting the car who let oil get on their mounts and other destructive habits. Moral of the story is inspect hydraulic engine mounts often regardless of the car and failed mounts aren't typically catastrophic.
