Replacing top with tear in it
I've read more than once about the shop in St. Pete that replaces tops. I've got a very common tear and the factory refused to good-will it so I've searched around for some options. most of the replacement tops cost over 2500 bucks installed, I finally broke down and called Rayco in St. Pete and to total cost for top and installation is 1065. He told me it will take about 3 days and he'll split the cost of the rental car he's going to have arranged for me to be there when I drop my car off. So far it sounds like excellent customer service, and he offers a five year guarantee on his top which he fabricates on premises. I'll post again next week when it's done, and maybe add a picture or two.

Wow that's an amazing price! I don't know what kind of work they do but be careful, for that price I wouldn't expect too much.
-- I say that b/c I had a new top put on in December, every place wanted about $2k-2500 to replace it, I found a place in my hometown (Sarasota) that did it for $1300 OTD, reputable shop, but the work was terrible!

Good point, I've heard of this shop mentioned on this site before so that's why I'm not leery of the place, he claims to do all of the top replacements for the local dealers, and I've heard good stuff from board members here. Will keep you all posted of how it goes.

Tell him David with the Yellow S sent you!
He did my top a few months ago and I have been real happy with the looks of it. He used a heavier fabric and we even put in a glass window. I have had to work with it because I don't use the car every day it has stayed a little stiff but when I work with it it goes down very well. I am sure after doing my car they will know exactly how to do your car and you will be happy with the result.
Good luck
David

I have seen Doubledaves new top in person. They did an excellent job. The material they used is thicker then stock and looks like it will hold up to wear very well.
