I've got a job opportunity at Southwest Florida State College, but I've got some questions about moving to the area.

I think I've found some decent areas in Niceville to live (in and around Bluewater Bay), so that's pretty much covered.

My wife and I enjoy bicycling (more athletic than recreational) and she is training for a full ironman, so we are looking for a public pool that has swim lanes.

One of our main concerns is what the cycling conditions are in and around the area and how bike friendly the 'locals' are (It looks as if half the residents are probably military, with alot of tourist traffic).

She also has two horses that we would prefer to board rather than purchase land to house them.

Any help with any of these subjects would be of great assistance in making our decision.

FWIW; we're heading up there this weekend to check the place out, so if you have any suggestions on where to go/ what to do while we're there, please chime in.

We ended up making a trip up there and will be moving in early to mid-September.

By the way, if anyone is concerned, the beaches in Destin are CLEAN!!
...and frickin' beautiful!!!

kinda, only one I found was this place linky and they mostly specialize in exotics.

 

not sure if you'd call them performance shops but i can think of three dyno tuners in the fwb metro. over in niceville there is also lorange, they specialize in hondas/acuras (mostly civics/integras) but they are competent. also, fwb/destin has a ton of s2000's around.

I'll probably get my swaybars installed on the WRX @ S&R before I leave Tampa. That should keep me happy for a little while.
No further upgrades planned for the S and I don't mind taking it to Honda if I NEED something.

It's so nice having S&R and Puddy close by. I'll definitely miss that.
