I talked to Precision Collision and they didn't even seem interested in seeing the car.

Went to Samuels and although their work is very good, the price went up to $4000 and that is too much for me to spend on a car with 100k miles that is only worth like 8 or 9 right now.

Toekneeg actually painted his car himself, so that won't really help.

I also stopped by Vu's Auto Body near downtown and he seems like a decent option right now. He is only asking $1800, but didn't have any cars in his shop I could look at.

Any chance anyone here has used him before?

Repaint it ... I had my first S2000 repainted (factory black) and LOVED it. It was a partial insurance claim from a little fender-bender ... so, I paid another $300 to have the entire car painted. I know I got a deal and it was a friend-of-a-friend who painted the car (and one of the best painters in my area.)

My threshold would be no more than $800 for a really good paint job.

Good luck figuring it out though ... sounds like a tough decision.
$800 sounds like a dream, I've been quoted $2500 - $3500, who did you have paint it?

I know I got a deal ... but, it was a big help knowing the guy a bit too. And, the insurance part of the job was able to offset a decent amount. All that played into the final price to me. I did give the guy another $200 in cash as I knew he went the extra mile for me.

I know a guy in town that also does decent work for reasonable prices. I'll go ask him what he's charging nowadays and try to send you some pics. He does everything from OE to wild and that's with cars, bikes, boats, ... anything. He's done several show cars ... classics as well as modern 'ballah' cars.

Samuels is not cheap bu t the job they do is immaculate. My S is at Samuels right now getting a complete paint job. I am paying more than he quoted you because I had body work to do as well. Brad has done all my paint and body work needs for the last 5 years. I had a BMW front end replaced(insurance), Lexus - skirts, front bumper and removslmof all dings( out of pocket).

I always hate myself when it comes to paying but at the end of the day my only advice is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

If you get a samuels paint job, the car will be flawless. If you get a macco spray, expect to regret is as overspray on everything, orange peel, and pieces not meant to be painted such as bumper grill will now be painted with no prep work behind it.

If the car is mechanically sound and you don't NEED to sell it( growing family, finacials, garage space) then save up until you can get a proper paint job. Otherwise sell as is. You will loose some on the sale but that loss will be less then the expense to get a paint job worth demanding a premium

If anyone is interested I am writing a review for Vu's Auto Body here:
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/870...-body-orlando/

Samuels is probably the best painter, but hopefully Vu's will turn out to be the best choice considering its less than half the price.
