Noise under the hood at ignition
I don't know allot about cars, and I'm new to this forum, as far as posting goes so it might not be the correct place to put this, and it may be covered somewhere. I've found that most of the issues I've come across with my s2k are very common and covered all over this site, and I'm very thankful for everyone's input, it sure has made my ownership experience wonderful.
When I start my car, at the end of ignition, when it comes to life, there is a noise, kind of like a ticking, maybe some bearings aren't spinning just right, and it doesn't sound totally out of place, sort of goes along with the noise of the engine, but it's extra, and when I hit the gas while sitting still, it's at the end of the peak of acceleration. I wouldn't say it's getting worse, it's just that I'm noticing it more now that I'm tuned in to the noise. My friend suggested it might be the alternator, but the car starts up fine and there are no issues as of yet.
I figure I'll have to wait for something to break before I actually fix it, but the noise is coming from that area where the alternator is, or the belts, maybe it's fine, and maybe not, the car is an 03 and has 60k miles on it. If anyone could shed some light, or perhaps can chat with me to narrow down the possibilities, I'd really appreciate it...

check your oil too. if that is low, the car will produce more/different sounds. But def. have it looked at. Dont wait for something serious to go wrong. it could be the difference between a few dollars to fix or a few thousand dollars to fix

Definitely have one of the more experienced members listen to the sound for you at a meet. If it is the timing chain tensioner (as Scott points out), you need to get that fixed immediately.
