I actually rather like the MX-5, looks aside. It isn't as focused as an S, nor does it look as good. But the gearbox and steering are quite nice, and it's fit and finish and interior detailing, on the more expensive models at least, indicate good value for money. It is very agile too, even if not overpowered.
The Pontiac and Saturn have very trendy designs which won't age well in my opinion. Plus they have poorly designed tops and overly small truncks. The Pontiac has more of the old-fashioned GM cheap plastic interior, the Saturn less so.
I like my S, and it doesn't get driven alot and has low mileage. So I've no intention of trading it in. The new model may drop in horsepower. But I think the S is frankly more about handling than horsepower anyway. The MX-5 proves that there is a market for spritely sports cars with good handling.
I am going to give Honda a wait and see on this one, but there is nothing in the concept that gives me lots of heart burn.

I like the idea of a new, less intense model. This will only make ours that much more valuable.
I really think that the S2000 has pushed the envelope for what any car manufacturer can risk in performance for the price. It is an extremely niche car.
Let them bring a more tame version to market. As long as i have mine they can do whatever they want now

Our model going up in value dosent really do anything for me. Its not like the car had a 2 year run. Its pushing a decade!! I've got this issue where
I hope this is BS. If not, its been fun Honda.
**not interested in an s2k with its balls cut off.

"It's also pricey for what it is, which explains why it sells mainly to tolerant sports-car purists with money. But that's a pretty small market, and it was mostly satisfied long ago. Meantime, the rival MX-5 keeps making money with a steady 20,000 in sales per year"
What AMAZES me is that the HP war is dying and Honda NEVER EVER Joined .. amazes me .. if the S2k came with just an extra HP even in FI version it could be selling like crazy ... oh my heart is broken ..

This affects the majority of the public offering anyway ... because Honda has always done well when allowed to stretch their legs on the track.
I'm fine with this premise ... because if I wanted more ... i would have installed the blower i've owned (for nearly a year now).
Bringing an econo-sport convertible is where the profits are ... the Miata and Solstice/Sky are proof of that.

They need to let it die. The S2000 has gone too many years with just "minor" changes.. theres a big need for a power upgrade in the engine department imo. Kill it now while its still good and stop trying to stretch it out any longer.
