Default Need a Tranny.

We have concluded (not final) that the rattling deep in my tranny is a bad gear bearing(s). I'd rather not rebuild mine. I just want to swap.

I can pickup anywhere in Central FL. Let me know your price.

Is the rattle affecting the functionality? If not, no worries, My MY00 makes some pretty wicked noises when down shifting. I think it adds character.

Mines had a nice tranny buzz since day 1. Shifts like a dream.

TRANNY buzz or CLUTCH buzz? My tranny rattles something special. Rob, next time we're at a meet or event, I'll take you for a spin.

Oh, and FYI - the rattling is CONSTANT. Not just on downshifting, not the clutch buzz between 3k rpm & 4k rpm (I have that too). It's further exacerbated when I turn right. The whole car rumbles a tad and the rattling gets terrible. I believe when different loads are applied to the driveshaft, is stimulates the bad bearings inside the trans when in gear...

NO ONE so far has been able to tell me exactly what it might be. It's been on two lifts (one at a dealership and one at a performance shop) and other S2K drivers have been in the car or driven it.

Are you sure it's in the tranny and not the Diff or CV's? (both fit a grinding while turning symptom)

I have ruled out my dif, because when we put the car on the lift you can hear the rattling coming from the rear of the tranny, almost to where the driveshaft connects to the trans. Applying rotational torque to the driveshaft yielded somewhat of the noise I was hearing. (albeit not as loud as being in the cabin)

Also, the rattling gets louder as RPM's/speed are increased

Dose it make the noise when your foot is out of the gas?

Ben, yes. It makes the noise even at idle (you have to listen for it).

Some have suggested a TO bearing, the guys at Panducky Motorsports here in Brevard say bad gear bearings in the tranny, but even they are unsure.

I may be down there this weekend if Speedy finds a car for my mom.
