Near Death Experiance

Near Death Experiance
Hi Guys
I’m making this post as to remind fellow s2k drivers that crazy things happen on the road and to always be careful no matter what you’re driving.
I was heading to work/Internship which is located in Lakeland (I live in safety harbor/Clearwater) on Tuesday (6/17) in my family’s Honda Accord like I have been doing for the past year. My usual route being I-275 then I-4, as I passed Exit 1 on I-4 I noticed a grey Charger starting to catch up from behind so I slightly slowed down thinking it might be a cop. The Charger passed and I realized that he wasn't, so I followed his fast pace. It was as he changed his lane from far right (4th lane) to the next one over (3ed lane) that I saw a fairly large piece, which looked like rubber/plastic, flung up into the air. Now the last image I remember before swerving to avoid the piece, was it being about a car length away aiming right at my face.
Well even though I swerved and was aware of my surroundings it still blew right through my windshield. I felt a lot of pain in my left arm barely managing to pull over into the median, call the cops and wrap my belt around my bleeding bicep. When the paramedics arrived they told me I was lucky to be alive, I knew that but just didn't know just how lucky. Turns out the piece that went through my windshield was a 12" x 4" steel plate weighing 10-12lbs, and it managed to pierce the roof of my Accord, I must have leaned a bit to the right when I swerved because only a corner of the plate hit my bicep puncturing a vein. It could’ve gone through my arm, heart, or even my head, luckily no pieces were left in my arm and it wasn’t broken.
So thank God I'm alive!
Moral of the story: pay attention while driving, and try not to play too much with the radio, cell phone, etc. especially NO texting. I know that if I was doing any one of those things at that moment, I wouldn't be here to share the story.

Holy @#$*&@#*$&. That could have ended so much worse. Glad you had the presence of mind to slow the bleeding, otherwise you could have bled out before paramedics arrived.
You're a lucky man. Buy a lottery ticket this week.

Thank you guys for your kind words, it really means a lot (im glad im ok too lol).
honestly i never imagined something like that ever happening (sure i've watched Final Destination), but usually you'd expect it to crack your windshield and ruin your day. Thank God I wasn't on my bike or in my S
