According to what the Martin SCC folks told me when we were planning the year, yes. Contact them to find out for sure. Thanks!

so basically $350 gets you on track for a total of 2.5+ hours
45 membership
425 weekend entry fee
4 national admin fee
minus 150 new participant discount

= $324

Tentative schedule is posted, linked from http://www.drivenasafl.com/scheduleresults/sebring/ . Each HPDE level has 4x25min/day scheduled. So that's more than 3 hours on track.

Thanks,

Lol it's not quite that simple but basically... our events are full-weekend by design because that's what the vast majority of participants want (greater than 95% over time, when given the choice, chose both days.) And not having Sunday only entries makes the events better for that same majority who want to run both days and always sign up accordingly.

We have had epic problems with Sunday-only guys in prior years. Showing up late, skipping tech, not getting wristbands, not coming to meetings or downloads, passing without point-bys, causing trains, passing under yellow, passing pace cars, hitting stuff, trying to sneak on track, lying about driving history to get into a certain run group, arguing with officials, you name it. At one point a guy basically shut down one of our Homestead events after going out and crashing on like his 2nd lap on Sunday morning and he wasn't even supposed to be in that run group. That instance cost a bunch of people some track time that they didn't deserve to lose, but generally speaking, allowing these Sunday-only drivers has made the quality of the track time - and the quality of the event in general - worse for everyone on day 2. Additionally it is challenging for all our officials to be up early on Sunday morning and back at work to do tech, registration, and drivers meeting all over again for just a few guys after working/driving allllll day Saturday... then partying with everyone else in an attempt to have maximum fun during their time spent away from home. So eventually we decided that the few extra bucks worth of entry fees weren't worth the inconvenience for our members and our officials too.

As for Saturday onlys, we offer those to known safe participants in HPDE2 and above, but there are a limited number available (because we don't want to have too many people taking a spot in a full group that we could've filled instead with a two-day registration - this costs the region money, and considering how much it costs to put on Sebring weekends especially, every penny counts.)

Otherwise nobody in HPDE1 can do a one-day entry because HPDE1 is two days by design to make sure the basics are fully taught and extensively practiced. Literally everything about HPDE1 is built around a two-day progression with classroom, instructor goals, driving milestones, and soforth. Also nobody new to NASA FL in HPDE2 or higher can do a one-day entry because we will want to evaluate you on track both days, usually via check rides as well as the usual observation by flaggers and such. Once you have done a weekend or two with us and we know you're a known safe participant and/or you've gotten to HPDE2, Saturday-only entries are fine.

As for a "shit list" lol. I don't care if somebody spun once two years ago and wants to do a single day in HPDE3 now, or similar. They wouldn't be on the list because it doesn't really exist. I just want to help make this program the best, safest, and most fun it can be for everyone. Which is how we got to all the policies explained above, and no Sunday-only entries except in very special cases. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification Jon. Didn't think about the driver's meeting and such, I can understand how Sunday-only could be a challenge.

I'm hoping to make it a full weekend, worst case Sat only HPDE-3. Might have to be working in between sessions to pull off the whole weekend, haha.

Especially since we don't usually have a regular drivers meeting on Sunday anymore unless we need to. I remember several times in 2012... sitting there holding a list of the Sunday-onlys so they could get the quick safety talk that everyone else heard on Saturday morning, and having literally none of 'em show up, even though all were told in advance. We try to be as laid-back and understanding as possible but... the morning meetings are necessary to get everyone on the same page. I hope we get a better way figured out eventually but for now I just can't allow something that makes the event worse for those who choose to participate. There was another Homestead event during which I had personally fielded 10+ face to face complaints about several Sunday-only drivers in various groups by lunchtime. Eventually it just didn't make any sense to p-ss off 10 guys when the only benefit was collecting maybe an extra $750 for the region.

Anyway yes please, come play when you can! When you need to get work done... 2nd floor of the tower is usually as quiet as it gets, or over in the lobby/bar at the Chateau.

Thanks again,

Jon
