Default Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212

just curious if anyone has tried these yet. I wanted local opinions because a tire wire has a LOT to do with temperature ... and being in florida makes it even more critical.

Wasn't my first choice ... i'm in love with my Yoko-mama's AVS ES100's. They are an amazing all around performance tire IMHO (especially for the money = $388 shipped for all 4 plus a $25 rebate!).

However, discount tire is backordered on the rears (245/45 - 16) and they called me to find out if i'd like anything else. Not alot of choices in that size (just the Yoko's and the Hankooks according to the website) ... so i figured i give the Hankooks a try (and managed to strike a deal with them considering the 'bind' they put me in ... haahaha). I still have the ES100's coming too. I intend on having a second set of OE wheels just for autoX anyway ... so the ES100's on one set and Hankooks on the second set ... that may last me a year ... right?

oh ... and to add insult to injury ... i got a flat tire last night on the way home. So now i'm sporting my TSX wheels on the rear with the 235/45 17's Pilot Sports! They have just enough tread to treat me to one more autoX ... i think. lol

Hey Scooter...I have those. They are decent for cheap ass tires. Lateral grip is better than the ES100. Braking really really sucks. Sidewall is the softest I've ever seen on a hi perf tire. Lots of negcamber seems to help along with lower tire pressures (I know...doesn't make sense but it works).

Overall...not a bad tire for something on the cheap. But I'm looking forward to switching up to 17" and some Azenis next year sometime.

I'm a firm believer in the hankook R-S2's. They've not done me wrong yet.
