Yes that is a must do if I stay down here. I have run the S in some decent canyons when it was in stock form. This is my home stomping grounds in Cali.

I am in Palm Springs as I write this, and I know that road very well. It is a section I take when driving from Palm Springs to Laguna where my sister lives.
Although it is a great road by anyone's standards, it does not hold a candle to the Dragon.
Palm to Pines Scenic Byway is even better IMHO, and far more desolate than the Ortega.
That said, I imagine you had much fun when you lived out here.
