car broken into
well my car got broken into last night. whoever broke into it last night took advantage of the one fault of the viper alarm system..........the alarm needs to be turned on in order to work. apparently i went to measure my battery last night and forgot to re-arm the alarm after taking my measurements. the odd thing was they left my valentine one radar and the only thing stolen was my handheld gps. everything was scattered around the car, but the funny part was that they never found the secret compartment. i am not going to bother making a police report over my gps. it is just frustrating that the one time i forget to turn my alarm on i get broken into. well soon enough i will be back home in IL where it is so safe that you can leave your keys in your car overnight and not worry about it getting stolen.

Sorry to hear about this.
YOu should go back to the place that installed your alarm, It should be set to arm automatically. Then you don't have to remember to arm it. You can make that setting arm the alarm, but not lock the doors. That way you don't ahve to worry about locking the keys in the car by mistake
I do have an idea for the peeps that have alarms, I think it would be a really good idea to add LED's to each door panel. then as someone approaches the car from either side they will see that it has an alarm

I'm more scared about alarms that arm themselves cause I always think I might lock my keys in there.
Atleast nothing was damaged. It was probably some punks that were watching you and saw you didnt arm the alarm

i noticed a very small tear in the top next to the window, but it is so small that i think it might just be at a wear point. the tear is only 1/4" long. at least the break-in gave me a reason to inspect the top and now know to get the rip patched before it gets worse. is there any information on my insurance card that they could have copied that i should be worried about?
