Default Anyone know how to install shocks+springs?

I am thinking about getting Koni shocks+Espelir springs from the GB. Anyone in the jax area know how to install the shocks? I looked at a DIY guide and it looked pretty hard. I don't even know if I have all the needed tools.

Shocks and springs aren't too difficult if everything goes right. Unfortunately, it's one of those jobs with a high probability of something not going right. When I did mine, for example, i had a couple of bolts that were extemely difficult to remove (ended up heating them w/ a butane torch) which held the whole operation up. It certainly can be DIY but you need to make sure you have the right tools.

Just from memory: jack, 4 jackstands, deep-well metric sockets, torque wrench, breaker bar, spring compressor, allen wrenches, open-ended metric wrenches and lots of liquid wrench.

p.s. Before the S, i never did anything on a car besides change the oils and brake pads. If I can do it, you certainly can too.

I changed my own springs on mine and in order to do that i had to take apart the whole assembly so the shocks shouldnt be hard to switch and with yours being so new with only a few thousand miles on it all the bolts should be easy to loosen. Let me know when you wanna do it.

The strut tower bolts in the rear are a serious PITA. especially the ones behind the fuel line to the main tank from your gas door.

Yeah they're not a lot of fun. I did manage to do mine w/o unhooking the gas lines, etc. One of those ratchets that have several joints in the handle (don't know the proper term here) really help.

I've got new Espelier springs, still in an unopened box. I'd be willing to sell them for less than the group buy. You'd save a few bucks. If you are interested, let me know.

Ever since I did 360's through the ditch my car just doesn't feel the same. I don't feel like I am planted to the ground like I was before the 360's. Maybe I just need an alignment, who knows. But I really want to lower my car anyways, and this combo looks very good. Springs should lower me about 1.3-1.5". Then with the shocks I can go another 1/2" if I would like. Or just stay how it is. Plus from talking to Jeremy and Travis and a few others, the car feels much better closer to the ground with less roll. After I do the install and all is settled down, I will go get an alignment and my baby should feel like she has spikes on, gripping the ground. Still trying to decide on the euro alignment for better traction , but more tire wear

A screwed up alignment will have serious effects on feel, all it takes is a few tenths of a degree.

def. get an alignment and make sure they take it back as close to spec as possible. Using the Euro or canadian specs will result in more aggresive toe settings and as a result more tire wear (from what Ihave heard).

Lowering the car will kill your current alignment and you will have to get it done again. Even then, by lowering it, you will cause Camber squat and there is not a whole lot you can do to cure that totally. I think there are camber kits for the front or rear (not sure which) but that only covers that half of the car.

Simple fact = you will chew through tires with any lowering or aggresive alignments
