Check this DIY gear swap thread: DIY diff drop

It's not all that hard to do. I'm probably going to be dropping my diff for cryo'ing and a gear swap in about two weeks.

I did it by myself on the ground with two jackstands and some tools in about 1 1/2 hours - I highly recommend you have a buddy help! I did the install by myself as well - Be prepared to strip out either the half shaft bolts or the prop shaft bolts! I might have a few extra ones laying around if you do!

what Ztec said.

Before you even start do order a few replacement bolts for the axle shaft (the fronts are different from the rears). You will round out at least one and it sucks having to wait for these parts (order only usually at the dealership). Also have the tools to cut the heads off the nuts you round out

If there's any way you can get access to a lift, do yourself a favor and do so. I did mine in and out on my back by myself and there's no way around it ... it sucked.

Good luck

Good idea. I had forgotten about those damned Allen head bolts. The only thing I hate more is those [expletive deleted] Torx bolts. The guy who invented those [expletive deleted] things should be staked naked to a fire ants nest, smeared in honey, then castrated with a rusty butter knife. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
