I'm interested but dont know if its worth it. Anyone wants to convince me? Also, how much did you pay?? $1400 + your core is a bit much through ricks2k. Thanks.
Is that $1400 for the comptech housing also?
That is about right if it is.
$500 gears
$450 housing
$100 parts
$1050 without labor.
IN a few months I will have my new rearend built and I will be selling my Comptech rearend with 4.57s. I love them but they are too much with the turbo.

well, i went with a cheaper route... bought my 4.77 through kia (around $250), had it cryo'd, and installed for 100-300 (sorry, totally forgot how much i got it done for, but it was around that range, lol). and as far as the strength, i haven't had any issues. I dont race it alot, but when i do i also run a 55 shot, but no issues whatsoever... just make sure u get the the install kit, i think around $95... if kia doesnt have 4.57, i think mazda has it. good luck.

Install is around $300 to get it done right and KIA doesn't make 4.57s. Mazda makes 4.10, 4.30 and 4.44 and at cost they are about the same price wise as the KIA gears.
The problem is not as much the gears as it is the housing and the bearing caps. I hope you had the housing treated. I have seen more housings break than gears. They use crappy metallurgy on the housings.

it was around $250 at the time i got it, butdefinitely not over 300. You call aorund various kia dealership and each one would give u a different price. I went to the one on dale mabry, close to the stadium, this was maybe around 10 months ago i think? as for the place that i had it done, it was a domestic shop, i forgot the name, sorry, but hte owner use to own an s2000, his name is al i think??... his shop has a dyno too, if u search in tampa racing.com i'm sure you can find it. As for the housing, no ididnt get it treated. Good luck bro.

Sorry I didn't intend on making this a for sale thread. I won't have mine rearend out for a few months and as the say, "the line is long and distinguished."
Oh well, I still need to save up some more money before I can do the gears+housing swap anyway.
