OGP is awesome. I think the Ocala area group should probably do a premeet rundown of driving loops and go-karts. I'm in!
There should be a sponsored 'warm-up' team for OGP
I haven't been in 2-3 years ... and I've heard they've been making some pretty steady updates to the place each year. Puddydad and Composimo were just there last year with GRM doing the diff-testing. Any connections fellas?

regarding the cart track in Ocala: Can scooter or John (or somebody local) see if we can do something on that sunday? IMHO it would be easier to setup, more cost effective for those wanting to attend, and probably more fun and more do-able than a track day for most everybody. I know I would attend.
do we want to start a prospective roll call for wanting to do this on Sunday??

At a National S2K meet a few years ago they did a Karting event that was a blast. There were about 40 people total and we all did about 10 laps each for practice then ran 3 hard laps for qualifying.
Once everyone had a qualifying time we broke that into teams based on qualifying times so each team was abalanced with fast and not so fast folks.
Then we did a 2 HOUR Endurance race for the teams and each driver had to run a minimum number of laps. The strategy of who to have in the Kart and for how long along with the changing of drivers was really fun.
By the time the 2 hours were up we were all worn out and it was very exciting and fun to watch and be involved in.

An enduro sounds awesome. My biggest gripe is that I never get to go for long enough! Would definitely be tiring but I'd love to try to go for distance. . .
If any of you S2K guys want help doing anything for the meet let me know. Obviously I am local.
Or maybe not. . .I thought my location was listed. Anyway, let me know if you need help!

The official stance on "just showing up" is that we have no stance.
You can show up and be parked just like everyone else...we have no way of knowing if you have paid or not when you park.
You can exit your vehicle and walk around and nothing will happen.
A very small number of extra shirts will on sale at 15.00 each (while supplies last).
Just so I am straight on your request:
You DO want a shirt
You DONT want any food
You DONT want to do the museum
You DO want to take advantage of any group activity we planned
You DO want to hang out and be a part of everything and have fun with everyone
But, you DONT want to pay?
That’s fine, but I have a more economical idea
Why don’t you just buy a shirt? Save gas from Orlando or Miami (I am not sure which area you are coming from). I mean.... if you are going to drive the distance, do a group drive, stay the whole day, buy a shirt, eat someplace else, etc. You will have dusted 40.00 before you even get to the event. If you are concerned about the money issue, just buying a shirt seems to offer the most benefit with the least cost.
I am with you on the money situation. We had a hard time getting this together and pulling it off. It’s tough out there right now. I am not trying to give you or anybody else a hard time. I am not trying to be high and mighty, I am simply stating our side of the story.
The money we charge goes directly to funding the actual meet. A percentage of the cost we charge goes to (venue, insurance, food, shirt, magnets, supplies etc) any money left over goes directly back into funding the next event...Not to the Grand Prix event or any other function....it goes right back into the Supermeet fund.
We feel we are providing a service and at a great value. There are fees and people’s time and effort associated with that service. We are not charging for people’s time and effort. All human involvement is strictly voluntary…no one is making a single penny off this event.
You are welcome to do what you like. We have no policy on the issue and we will not prevent you from doing what you want. You cannot eat without an armband and you will not be able to do the museums without a ticket and/or arm band. The rest of the day is at your discretion.

It's not that I can't spend the money, I just have no interest in spending money to go inside some old drag racing museum.
With the current economic situation, I think the $40 fee is going to turn many people away. I'm sure you got a group rate, but a percentage of the registration is still going to the museum entrance which I think many people don't care for.
I thought this was a S2k meet, where we could hang around and admire/chat with other s2k owners, not walk around some drag racing museum.
I do know you and the rest of the planners put a great deal of time into planning this, and I do appreciate that, I never said otherwise.
On another note, the karting sounds like great idea, I have raced at Ocala a few years ago and had a BLAST!

Jeez... No need to get angry. I though this thread was for questions/concerns.

That said, we all have expectations and that always comes with a price. We want to promote the event and accomodate the basic of necessities, organization, food and frolic. As with Raul (Airgate) we are trying to create an annual showcase that affords options to gather together in a friendly capacity, with options to satisfy.
*never mind Rob, he's underpaid, overworked, going bald, and his wife teaches school for a living. Hence, the semi-sarcastic apptitude of a man who bypassed McCain and voted directly for Palin. Too, he's turbo'd, which means he has mucho exhaust gas being re-directed for intake pleasure; and we all know that is gonna' hurt, regardless of how many surgeries we've had.
Come join the fun, you will be first on the list to pay next year !!
