Want to buy a S2000 BUT ...
Hi,
I already posted that in the international forum and try now the european one ;-) (cause I'm french)
Here is my question :
What should I carefuly look for when buying a used S2000 ?
I heard about big problems on the trany ...
Should I buy a brand new S2000 to get all the kown problems solved ?
Thanks all for your gracefull help ;-)

I'm not sure buying a 2nd hand s2000 is a good idea (unless of course you are getting a great deal and you can be sure of the history of the car).
2nd hand s2000 are selling for close to 80% of new and given the average target buyer, they are more likely to have been used hard than other cars...

If you can not spend a new S2000 you could consider a used one. The MY2001 seems good and there are not so many bad habits in this series. The tranny "problem" seems over now.
You should be conspicious buying a used S2000 at a "normal" second hand car dealer because you are not able to see the difference if the car is a refurbished wreck or a normal driven car. You have more luck at the Honda dealer. Honda gives you 3 years warranty in Europe (and elsewhere).
Some engines don't consume any oil while others do more: that has nothing to do with the style of driving from the driver and the gentle or abused break-in period of the first 1000 km.
