Default trying to get my oil bolts changed, on my american spec. car.

Hi Guys I saw Ronalds post about the "Bulletin" weeks ago. I'm worried about the oil bolts and want them changed. 'cause up until I saw Ronalds post, about the " European recall" I was happilly driving as fast as comfortable on the Autobahn. Now I'm afraid to go over 130 kilometers an hour I'm curious how I can get a dealer to be as nice as Siepels was. I guess he had his american spec car taken care of. I went to the nearest German honda dealer. He said no problem we can fix your car, BUT you have to pay up front and then get American honda to pay you back I called American honda right after I read Ronalds post. They were not supportive and said " your car does not have any recall on it" I explained that the recall is going all over Europe, and that it is "supposedly" due to the high speed driving. They remarked that because I brought the car over here it was a "Grey market vehicle" and no longer had a warranty. So as you can see, I'm hesitant to deal with them because they are going to play the denial game. I just want to find a dealer who understands I payed $37,850 U.S. ( including hard top ) for my wonderful S2000. I bought the car for what it is( A surgeons scalpel) and the reliability that is normally "Honda". I didn't expect a car that was engineered to rev to 9000 grand to have problems associated with lubrication/ cooling cylinders properly Does anyone have any suggestios as to what i should do? I'm already going to try a different dealer, hope that works. I don't see why Honda Japan " the big mother ship" would have a problem with helping me maintain the integrity of my engine. I'm driving the same roads as all you fine people I was sent here by my work, The U.S. Airforce. I didn't really have much of a choice Even though I'm thankfull for it , and the wonder countries and roads I get to travel on. It's not that much fun, when a family in Chrysler mini van passes me up because I'm afraid to drive my car at "high speed" on the Autobahn

Hello,

Why have you a US version ? If the recall is for Euro models, maybe don't worry !

Bye

I have a U.S. version because I bought my car in Alaska. The European cars and the U.S. spec cars are virtually Identical except for headlight washers , headlight adjusters and the wheels. So if Honda feels european S2000's need New oil bolts for high speed driving and my car is driven in Germany and other european countries I feel slightly concerned if my oil bolts are not changed.

RTR,

The first thing to do is speak directly to a local dealer in Germany. I think they will not have any problems to fix your car under warranty. My case is slightly different in the sense that I bought it in Luxembourg but "Ronald's dealer" in the Netherlands accepted to have the recall done while the letter is not even issued in Luxembourg yet.
If you still have any problems I can mention the problem to my local dealer who is a good friend of mine. Maybe he can help.

Thank Victor, I'll try to see the dealer in Speyer Germany this week. Its about an hour drive from me,. Due to the language barrier, I think I'll see them in person to see if they will cover it under warranty. I'll keep your offer in my back pocket. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, that they will say " No problem".

Hi Victor

Do you know if Dynamic Motors here in Luxembourg have done any of these repairs. I guess that's the dealer you are refering to ?

Hi Soren,

They haven't. But at least they are aware of the recall. The letters should be issued soon in Luxbg.

I would suggest calling direct to Honda Germany. Benelux is a subsidiary of Honda Motor Europe North GmbH too. Here you have the phone numbers:
Honda Motor Europe North GmbH. You can find out where other countries have a Honda company.

Not all S2000 are concerned.

I talked to the guys @ Dynamic Motors and they gave me the serial numbers from the models which are concerned.

Don't have them on me right now but I can psot them tomorrow if someone is interessted.

My car doesn't need the modification apparently!

R-T-R,

Sorry for my late reply; I was out of the country until today...

I talked to the Dutch Importer directly (their customer service representative) and he had authorised me to go ahead with it. He said it was a factory recall for cars that are run in Europe. Although I have a US spec car, but am in fact running it in Europe, he deemed it applicable to my car. He would sort out the costs with Honda in Japan. Just mentioning the guy's name at my dealership, was enough for them to fix it for me straight away.

I suggest you call up the importer in Germany and explain the story, maybe even refer to what the Dutch importer did for me, and that evidently, it is an acceptable procedure.

Good luck and keep us informed!!!!!!!!!

Siepel

PS
Make sure you write down names etc!
