Thumbs up Tire / parts the Netherlands

Hi guys,

pursuing my relocation in the Netherlands, after having serviced the car, and installed an alarm at the request of the insurance company,

Time has come to replaces the rear rubber in my S and I'm wondering what is a fair price for the original dedicated Bridgestone s02's for S2000 (2001) here in the netherlands.
My Honda dealer here announces 250euros/1rear tire/mounted.
Does that sound fair for you guys that have more experience here in the Netherlands?
(Back in Italy I was paying around 160euros mounted.... so to me it sounds high, but no idea here )

Also I'm looking into getting a HKS hiper silent cat-back and a buffled oil pan (any advices on wether it really helps? heard quite some reports of oil starvation during track days due to g-force) for my S, and was wondering if anybody knows any alternatives to order here in europe instead of the usual US or Jap sites.

Finaly, any recomended places to service/tune s2000 around the netherlands? As well as recomended track-day links/organisations around the netherlands ? (I'm thinkin zandvoort-assen-zolder-spa... know stuff happens eventually but have difficulties finding out not speaking the language .... )

Best Regards,

H-R-F

About the S-02's: I payed 660 Euro's for a set of 4 & mounted and 160 Euro a piece for a rear, not mounted.
That was at a Profile Tyre Centre.
Maybe there is one around where you live now?
It is always a good thing to phone around for prices.

For service: it depens where you are.
The Honda dealer I go to is in Heerhugowaard.
They have several S2000's in for service, including mine for bigger jobs.
They know what they are doing: found the Honda Marine SAE 90 GL-5 for the diff, they don't mess around with multigrades

Hi SpitfireS !

Thanks a lot for the info ! That sounds much more like it
That Honda dealer I went to (Hilversum) doesn't quite inspire so much confidence to me .... just serviced the car and installed an alarm there and got out with quite a healthy bill , in addition despite the request I did to be advised of any additional work to be done , they put me in front of the accomplished fact, and had me pay 200euros for rear pads and brake fluid that I was planing on substituting myself for track-day friendly Items...
Before that I had discs and ebc pads I wanted to have installed and they asked me 200 euros just for the install (40mins job) , so much that I ended up doing it somewhere else for a third of the price.
In addition that 250euros for 1 rear tire as a "more friendly price with a discount" is begining to get on my patience..

Thx a lot for the infos

Make sure you get the "proper" S-02's.
Code # ES02JZ

I checked the website and is shows : Potenza S-02 225/50 R16 ZR BSW, JZ,, N3

Can you (YuriArts) confirm they are the ES02JZ tires?
Because it is pretty cheap!

Hi SPitfire,

in fact I had the same dilemma when first checking the site, but reading the description of the tire :"Potenza S-02 225/50 R16 ZR BSW, JZ,, N3"
it seems it adresses the dedicated series of the s02, called ES02BSW, ES02JZ and ES02N3 ...
One year ago when servicing my car in italy the dealer mistaked and fitted some ES02N3 on my car. After discussion with some member of my club I learned they where not the dedicated tires for the S but the dedicated tires for the porsche boxter of the first series, that was running exactly the same measures, and with dedicated characteristics for the Porsche boxster ...
Back to the dealer after a little chat I was explained that brigestone used the S02 as a base for many dedicated series, The ...JZ being for our S, the ...N3 the boxster, and the BSW well.... cant remember... but he was mentioning that they are generally grouped under the same family, being essentially the same measure and technical base. That being the reason for some quite usual miss order and mistaken fitment of the S.

Obviously they differ a lot in terms of sidewall stiffness, actual width (the JZ being closer to a 245 than a 225), and actual contact patch surface.

I'm looking for two rear ones, so I'll be investigating this closely in the upcoming days and wont miss to post the actual results right around here, cause at this price it's worth a couple phone calls !

Regards,

HRF

Sorry mate, can't confirm it.
I just always buy my tires there and don't want the S-02's anymore. I've gone to the RE050 (or something) and they suit me far better. More overall grip, especially in the rain where the S-02's really suck (it rains alot in Holland).

In any case, they are cheap because it all comes from Germany (http://www.reifendirekt.de/start.html).

But you will have to know exactly what you need, they won't be able to help you.

Let us know what you get
