don't bring such a big car... gasoline is allot more expensive here in europe than it is in the us!
take your S2000 with you, and put allot of goodies on it, because when you are in europe it will al be much more expensive to get

You might have a problem importing a US car in France, EU cars are fairly straight forward but even then plenty of paperwork and toing and froing needed.
US cars wont conform to EU regs so lots of trips to the DRIRE to have the car checked out, have known some people having to travel from the south to Paris to have some checks done. Have seen some jap imports registered so should be possible but rules change all the time and usually not to make it easier.
Even tho there is no road tax in France registering can be expensive, even for french reg'd cars. I bought a french reg'd Impreza Turbo and it cost me 450 euros to put in my name due to its horse power rating.
Car prices are more expensive than UK, have seen a RHD french reg'd year 2000 advertised for 13000 euros recently
Speeding wise - Have known a chap to be visited by the Gendarmes with a photo showing him speeding, they offered him something like 90 euros fine
he refused it saying he wasnt driving so they then upped it to 900 euros, he then remembered he was driving and paid the 90
Jobs - Toulon and that part of France might offer jobs but where I was (Dordogne) it was almost impossible for a none french speaker to get work, many were self employed agents working for immobiliers
Don't know about joining the Gendarmes, I know they live on site though.
Give it a couple of years after moving to France before you take major steps, like taking french national status, getting back in the US might be a headache, especially if its an urgent move back.
France is quite a nice place to live tho, rural France can be reeeeaaaalllllyyyy boring after a while.
The people (outside Paris) are very friendly and respectful and like to have a chat (not a moan) and are genuinely interested.

Hahah, it's unfortunate that these companies are associated with America in general.
