S2K in Belgium...

Bring it over , i want to see the car in person
There are a few things .
In belgium its illegal to put FI on a Na car . So if u are going to register (plates , insurance) in belgium it could be a problem . We have some ITR's with a SC and turbo's driving here , but you have to pass the car inspection every year . If you are lucky they say nothing of it , but if they see it you have some problems .
And isn't the fuel in europe and the US different , i see on the US board u guys have got 93oct fuel , we got 98oct (correct me if i'm wrong ) . Isn't that going to be a problem if ure car is tuned on 93oct and will be getting 98oct .

Hi Flow,
Good points. But for your reference I should mention that the US "Premium" gasoline (typically 92 or 93 octane) is based on a different octane calculation than here in Europe.
To be precise, in US the octane number is calculated from (RON+MON)/2 where the Motor Octane Number is generally a much lower number than the Research Octane Number, hence a lower value.
The European octane number is actually only the RON value (thus a higher number).
In practise this means the fuels are pretty much identical.
Wouldn't you think that if the car is presented to the registration authority in Belgium already including the SC, it would be acceptable in such a case (if you pass the emissions test of course)?
Here in Holland the front position lamps (parking lamps) have to be white and cannot be amber. Also a fog lamp has to be added to the rear of the vehicle. I'm not sure about Belgium though!!

Siepel

So exactly how hard is it to pass the inspection? I have not had the privelage of doing that yet. Also how hard is belgium on the smog protion of the test? I havent had to get the car smogged since I have had it. Hmmmmm. Do you really think that they would give me a hard time if the car already has FI on it? Once again guys I appriciate all the info. And in reference to the Octane, it was tuned with 91 Octane in California.

I think the fog lamp is a European Union requirement, as is the requirement for headlamp washers because the bulbs are xenon. Did you need to get headlamp washers when you imported yours? I guess most inspectors wouldn't know they are necessary.

The fog light I should be able to get installed pretty easily right? Since it is a factory part on EU S2K's. The only thing now that I have to worry about is if they will let my car past the inspections with the Turbo, and if my car will pass the smog test out here?

I must say the car inspection in belgium is a joke ..
Its like this , its illegal to change something on you car that isn't a OEM part . Like an S comes with 16" weels , putting on 17" or 18" is illegal , changing the brakes (bigger and better ) is illegal . You get the point ?
But if u catch the guy that inspects your car in a very good mood , he will not say a thing and your inspection wil fine .
But if he's in a very bad mood , u can put your car bac to stock to pass the inspection .
I went with my S with 17" wheels and they didn't say a thing , they didn't even do an emission test (think they were lazy that day ) .
But it could be if your car is street legal in the US , that they cant say anything of the turbo and stuff here in belgium .
I'm going to e-mail a friend of mine who knows alot about that kind of stuff . I'll let you know what he thinks .
greetzz..

Thanks Flow. So basically my S2K is way illegal if we were to go by the book! Thats always good to know. But I think either way I will most likely have my car should on a boat within the next couple of weeks. Also I wanted to ask you guys who you use for insurance out here. Who is the best/most reliable company?
