Today the Zandvoort circuit was open for public and I noticed two S2000s

FYI

On monday, October 22nd, there is a free driving day at the Assen TT circuit.
From 13:00 to 17:00 hours you can drive as much as you like for 200 Euro's.
Apply on this website:
http://www.raceschool.nl/index.php?content=vrijrijden
The website is Dutch.

I went to a free driving day there last year and it was great fun.
The Assen TT circuit is a motorcycle TT circuit, it has a very wide setup and you'll have to do your best to hit any barriers when you spin off the track.
At critical points the gravel pits slow you down very well.
(Don't ask me how I know )
On that day there were no "Blondes in Citroen C1's"
(unfortunatly )

I'm surpriced there aren't any more free driving days at Assen TT this year

Its a bit to far in the future to decide now if I'm going to go.

Well, there is the 'Vijverberg trofee', which is - contrary to what the name suggests - not really about a trophy at all. They have organised 12 trackdays at Assen and 4 at Zandvoort in the coming 10 months. With EUR 220 or 250 for half a day it's much more expensive but also much better organised.

See: http://de-vijverberg-trofee.nl/

Opposite as to Assen, at Zandvoort the barriers are quite close Also, Assen is being upgraded to accomodate the Champcar series later this year, which seems a good thing.

Then there's http://circuitdag.nl/, but they don't seem to have a schedule for 2007 yet.

There's another club from Germany - can't remember the name right now - that organises trackdays in the Benelux as well. They organised a trackday at Spa last year which I definitely want to do once.

Here they are, they're called the Pistenclub: http://www.pistenclub.de/

They don't seem to come to Assen nor Zandvoort this year, tho (but a lot to Spa! )

if you're around, why not get together one of these days for a drive, a drink, or a chat around s2ks ?
That's an amazing story indeed!

I hope you'll enjoy your stay in NL, it's a lot less fun to drive overhere, than it is in Italy

If you like there's also a Dutch S2000 club, but they don't seem to be very active (on the 'net anyway): http://s13.invisionfree.com/TEAM_S2K/index.php?

We're not very active indeed. But every now and then we meet and make a tour through an area.

Check out www.team-s2k.nl too.

You should go to the "RDW" station in Amsterdam for your homologation test.

It's gonna be easy, because you have a current Italian registration (EU country) and it will be transferred to a Dutch registration after a few simple checks. (If your car is three years or older there may be an additional general safety and emissions inspection).

Just bring the car, your Italian registration papers. You can contact the "RDW" (0900 0739) and specify the checking station of your choice (Amsterdam?) and ask for a "one-day" registration. It is free and the documents will be sent to your house. You may simply make a paper temporary license plate with the one-day-registration number on it. It is only valid on the day of the appointment.

I imported a car from the Czech republic and it was extremely easy to do.

One problem though is that you might have to pay luxury-car tax (BPM). You should be able to avoid that, but you need a document from the customs. You have to apply for a moving-goods declaration (verhuisgoedvergunning). You should do this well in advance BEFORE applying for a Dutch registration! (Customs: 0800-0143 or 045 574 30 31)

Btw, there are a number of reasonable insurance companies that will be able to give you the insurance based on a foreign license number or even only VIN chassis code number. Again, I also was succesful in getting that arranged. Shop around and explain the situation!

Good luck with your project!
