Having fun

Having fun
Yesterday,
returning from Luxemburg I had a lot of fun going back.
I took a slight detour, went through Malmedy and then on to
Liege. Suddenly there were familiar light behind me. It was an
Alfa GTV (as you know I had a Spider before the S2000). It was
going pretty fast (I did 170 at that moment). So I decided to
have a bit of fun with him. Dropped to 4th and floored it, the
guy didn't know what hit him, it was pretty busy on the road, so
we had to be very careful. There were a couple of nice bends
in the road, he chickened out a bit (these 18" really stick to the
road!). I decided to let him pass, I got the feeling he wanted to
go faster than I wanted. Well he tried to run away, but I could
keep up quite easily. You could see him looking in the mirrors.
Oh yeh, it was a Dutch guy.
Well I was looking very good at his car, since I was a bit amazed
by its performance. It was definitely not a 1.8 or 2.0, so it had
to be a 3.0 V6. Well he had 4 exhaustpipes in the back which
were certainly not standard. I also noticed a small Savali badge
(Savali means Sam van Lingen, which is the biggest Alfa dealer
in the Netherlands and they do a lot of tuning).
Well we crossed the border doing 170 and suddenly an idiot
went to the left lane doing 85KMH or so. He had to brake pretty
hard. After that I passed him, but there was definitely something
wrong with his car. His engine sounded not good. Luckily there
was a gas station nearby, so I followed him, I wanted to talk
with this guy. We started talking about our cars and he was
amazed by the S2000 (of course!), he couldn't believe that I was
faster than his car (I had the top down all the way, so that
takes a lot of performance). So I said I noticed the exhaust and
the Savali tuning. This was a 3.5Liter V6 with a turbo! He claimed
it was 350+ HP. With topspeed he would beat me, but my
accelaration was killing him! Probably it was the turbo which had a
problem after the sudden slowdown. After cooling the engine down a bit, it sounded alright. Albeit he had very sharp cams so
the engine had trouble being stationary anyway. That's why VTEC
is so fantastic, normal camshaft at low RPM, racecamshaft at high
RPM.
After that we went home doing a leisurely 150-160. It was nice
to meet a nice guy in another nice car. I think he's going to try
and find out more about the 2000! He really couldn't believe
what happened.

Hi Bart,
It was that obvious! Yeah I found a couple of nice bends in
Wallonie, but those roads are really bad.
I did mention the CAI to the guy, he was already smiling Maybe
we have gained an extra fan.

Ronald,
I was pretty sure you didn't get enough action during the weekend. But an Alfa GTV with turbocharged V6 engine, that's definitely a spectacular kill and all this with top down and heavier 18'' wheels
