Hardtop received
#1
I've been reading the forum for months and thought it's about time I register and share some news.
I received my hardtop last week. Ordered it at the end of September, so had to wait almost four months. It's silver. Dealer said a black one would take 4-6 weeks but I wanted silver to match the car.
It was installed on Friday by the dealer.
It looks superb! Even people who have seen the car before without the hardtop say that it is an awesome match. Highly recommended.
Additional benefit is that wind noise has been reduced considerably. Even the stereo sounds better! Rear window heater also works like a dream.

As I'm interested in buying a hardtop I would really appreciate if you could give us some more information on price, delivery delays and place you have it installed in Belgium.
Thanks. Victor.

Hi Cougar
Glad you are pleased with your top! Please can you post some pictures? How easy is it to put on/take off (pictures of on/off process would be great)?
Is the rear visibility any better?
What changes need to be made to the car before hard top can be fitted?
Sorry to ask so many questions but you seem to be the first person to actually have the top.

Delivery of my hardtop took about 4 months. Initially the dealer (Vancaldenhoven, Tervuren, B.) said 8 weeks. He then called me at the end of November to say it would not be here until the New Year and couldn't tell if this was Jan, Feb or March? Upset as winter was here but my hardtop was not, I contacted a business contact at Honda Racing in the UK. I then later got a call from Honda Germany (I guess Belgium falls under Germany in Honda's regional structure)saying that all initial production of the top was sold and the new production would be shipped mid January. Sure enough on 21 January I got a call from the dealer to say it had arrived.
Price was BEF 88,000 plus BEF 4,800 installation costs. These prices are exclusive of VAT. My dealer installed it.
Sorry, due to technical limitations can't post any pictures right now. Hope to do so in the future.
Rear visibility is definitely improved, in particular as the glass rear window is much larger. It actually wraps around on either side.
It is really easy to take off although I haven't done so. The manual says to undo the front hooks and undo the two rear levers (which lock it down), unplug the rear window heater and that's it. Two people can then lift the hardtop off.
No real changes were necessary. The two front locks (next to the visors) for the hooks were replaced and the brushes in the back through which the roof frame passes were replaced. The top comes with these new parts. I asked the dealer why these had to be replaced. He said he had no idea.
