Compilation of S2000 European Communities
Hello!
During the last years I have seen several people coming to the European Community in s2ki, asking about information concerning different countries (Italy, Spain, etc..). The main problem with these requests is that they often ignored and not always correctly answered. The main problem (or lets call it "feature") we have in Europe is the granularity of the diferent sub-communities with their own forums (outside s2ki) and most important (and thats the reason of the granularity) with different languages. External communities are often closed in themselves and they don't open to the outside world (not because they don't want, but because of location or language issues)
I would like to coordinate all of those communities using s2ki as a central unifying point. Once the communication with the diferent communities is setup, we could use several synergies like information exchange and even coordinate several inter-european meets (would be possible if we would have like a Europe wide meet calendar).
The task sounds very challenging, I'm not sure if we will manage to reach all what I have in mind, but I guess the only way to know it is by doing it. So let's start.
First I want to define a list of European S2000 communities (forums), I have started the list and I would like that you all help me to fill the gaps (addign more forums or responsibles). Each forum should have it's own SPOC (single point of contact). These are the requirements that the candidates should fulfill:
1- Foreign Forums: The forum must be a S2000 specific Forum or at least have a specific S2000 sub-forum. Should be located in Europe or in
Europe's neighbouring countries.
2- SPOC: The SPOC must be (ideally) an active user in s2ki and obviously an active user in the local forum, should speak (ideally) english and the local language of the external forum, and should have some relevance in the local external forums (ideally a moderator or admin) or at least have the express permision of the Admin of the foreign forum. Of course he should be passionate and proactive and everything expected from a community organizer
Here the list I prepared, I guess that the only way to fill it out is by going directly to each external forum and asking directly to the admin (I will do that in a later phase, by now let's see how many gaps we are able to fill from here)
What do you all think?

The goal of all this work would be to finally subdivide the s2ki European subforum or just to have some contact with the local and external forums?
Thanks!

The goal is not to compete with the external forums, the external forums make sense because of lots of reasons (for example the language).
The goal is that s2ki serves as link between the different communities.
If the amount of traffic generated by one specific community is big enough, then it would make sense to split this community into a separate subform in S2ki. But that's not the initial goal.

Added Israel to the list, thanks Croc
Before someone complains.. I know that Israel is not supposed to be part of Europe, but Israel participates in the Eurovision Song Contest after all (and that's enough for me)

Replied to your pm
More than happy to be your spoc for Belgium & The Netherlands.
Belgium & The Netherlands basically form the same & only S2000 community/club accross these 2 countries. We exist already for several years and we have kept good contacts with a lot of other S2000 EU communities after the Euromeet in 2009.
I tottaly support your initiative.
regards,
Laurent

Great Laurent!
I will update the list with your contact data
In order to ease the communication management, I will restrict the list of clubs to just one club per country.
If a country has two clubs/forums, and they feel like they want to participate in the initiative, that's fine, but the point of contact in s2ki will be just one.
I hope that's ok for everyone.
