Default Amsterdam sitings during our visit

We just returned from a lovely week in the Netherlands.

This was the most relaxing vacation I have had in a long time.

We say two S2000s in just over a week.

One was a newer black one we saw when bicycling in Ventkeveen (spelling?)

The second was a yellow followed by a black Lotus we saw last night on the street parallel to Singel.

Mostly, we stayed in Amsterdam and had a blast. The Van Gogh and Rijks are are beyond words.

We also stayed in the Hague on the coast. We visited the Mauritshaus and that was shocking (three Vermeers in one room). We also got to Rotterdam and did a harbor tour.

I'll be back for sure!

I doubt I have any new ideas but here we go

Van Gogh museum is just amazing
Rijks Museum under const. and has a limited yet spectacular array of art
Ride a bicycle. We went South of the city past the sports stadium and the auto dealerships (the smart shop has a cool stack of car out front. The countryside is incredible with new and old windmills, farms, gardens and beautiful villages to stop and eat/drink/enjoy life.
We stayed around Friedrickspein first and I liked that area alot. There are many cafes on Utrecht up to Rembrandt plaza.
We also stayed on Singel which is a more upscale scene on a canal.
Walk a lot. There are tons of cool little places to see in side streets.
Eat. The best place I ate at was Lucius fish restaurant a block over from Singel
Take the trams and and inter city train. They work really well. We also stayed in the Hague and they have an awesome seaside resort on one end of the city.

Regarding exchanging money, I learned that the best deal is to use an ATM machine with your regular account card.

Sorry about the spelling SpitifireS.

Yes, that is the place.

We had lunch at the cafe across the street from the Bang and Olafson shop and they have mighty tasty snacks.

I have a question.

What is up with the grafitti situation? it is out of control. They even sell grafiitti paint in the public markets (I own rental real estate and nothing turns an investor off here like grafiitti does).

In just 2 weeks and I'll be in Amsterdam for 4 days and then the Assen TT for a MotoGP race for 3 days.

Hi Tammy and Jami.

Hm.. I don't know.
Grafitty paint is normal spray paint... right?
I guess the penalties when you get caught aren't severe enough.

I agree that grafitty makes building look ugly.

What they sometimes do, is create a designated area for grafitty.
There have been "art shows" with grafitty only too.
IMO sometimes it is very creative, like "art", but those stupit tags are worthless and ugly.

In all cases: it should never be on buildings.

Did you see any news about the 75th anniversary of the "Afsluitdijk"?
Up north.
Thats close to where I live.

The yellow S2000 is my first one that I sold when I moved back to the USA! Very nice guy (not yet a member on S2Ki, although I told him he should) and I also know the Elise guy who came along a couple of times to check out the car when I put it up for sale!! Pretty cool hearing he's still enjoying trips too!

Glad to hear you had a great time in Holland!!

SpitfireS, I did not see anything about te 75th anniversary of the "Afsluitdijk".

The hot news item when we were there was the photography of a lot of naked folks in a circular garage by a person who does this in many places, Spencer Tunick.

Here is a link to the story

http://www.examiner.com/a-761125~2_000_Gat...Nude_Photo.html

Siepel, your car (previous car) still sounds great and is being enjoyed the the current owner.

Next question

What is up with this Canto LX microcar. It was the worst heap I have aver seen. Our older son met us from a trip to China and he said that was worse than anything he saw there.

On the other end of the spectrun we say a BMW Z1 (which looked like it was painted mint green). Something I had never seen before and the design stilll looked fairly fresh for an 80s car.
