Damn, Line, you are on to me. I was planning to volunteer, throw a low straight fluch to my son, then split both prizes with him. Guess I will have to content myself with the warm feelings that come from helping others have a good time. Plus there's beer later so I guess that's ok.

You can drive it anyway you want to - group, single, slow, fast, toooo fast, its up to you. Just remember, one hand per car and you will not be able to shuffle your groups hands for a better hand - you get what you draw.

Good question - since we are awarding both low and high hand prizes, I would say not. Other wise it would be possible (statisically) for someone to walk off with both high and low prizes with the same hand. High hand flush or straight A,2,3,4,5 and low hand (straights and flushes don't count) A,2,3,4,5. Buy using Aces high rule for high hand and Aces low for low hand, you pretty much gaurentee that two different people will walk away with a prize. And yes I know that statiscally a person could still have High hand straight 2,3,4,5,6 and low hand with the same cards, but the chances of that are considerably less, given Aces low for low hand.

And thank you for your help, I'm sure we can use it. I'll add you to the list of volunteers.
Typically, when doing low and high, the wheel (A2345) is the best possible low hand as well as a 5 high straight, or potentially an ace high flush.

The chances of someone having a 23456 are identical to someone getting an A2345, with only a minute chance of someone having an A2346, A2356, A2456, or A3456 to beat them on low, and someone also having a better straight or flush.

Note that when drawing 5 cards, half the hands will have nothing, and another ~40% will have one pair. The chances of getting a straight, at all, are less than 4 in 1000.
