I just walked in the door from my 20 hour drive to and from Cleveland!

My car is in good hand and the engine is torn apart. The rod in cylinder 2 broke and went through the block. But it looks like the cylinder stopped and the head is still intact. Of course they still need to remill the head and pressure test it before I can be positive that the head will be resusable.

Tim and I almost caught up for dinner but he was busy buying a new toy! (Im jealous) We can grab dinner when I pick the car up, I expect a ride in the new ride

Oh and I got to see the '04 with a vortech SC. They dynoed 294 at the wheels with a little cool off time. With some ice and longer cool down they could probably hit that magic 300 mark

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was SO FREAKING SICK!!!! I have never ridden in anything like that EVER!!!! It was fast, really, really.... REALLY FAST!!!!!

Seriously though it was amazing. It's a roots style charger so it pulls from about 2500 rpm and you are just crammed into the seat the entire time. I think I may need an NSX...

BtW: Does anyone have the pictures or video of when my brakes were smoking?

 

Not sure what sort of comment to put here. On a rating scale for blown engines is this mild, moderate, or severe? Anything my Hardtopguy gift certificate can help out with?

I would suppose this goes the moderate route. If the head was finished then that would be pretty severe in that I would need a whole long block and that would have ended up around 6-7k this should be between 4 and 5k.

Then again sometimes when cars blow rods the rod goes through the side of the car... That would have been realllly painful!

I have a pic of my car when the three of us came to the bottom of the Dragon. I will try to post it here in a few days. Glad to hear that your baby is in good hands. I was back in parts (I sell Hondas) today looking up dealer cost on the block and heads etc. Well, let's just say that even I was beginning to get sick and it's not even my car! What would have been a real cool pic, would be of the black smoke that came from your exhust pipes when it blew. I was right behind you....

Yep that's Jason's car... I was right behind him the whole way back through the dragon.. there is a Killboy pic of me with a blue RX-8 behind me.. where it belongs ... as I followed the tow truck through the Dragon.
