We need to call Obama and divert some stimulus monies to Tn to get this done
Great idea Steve !!!! Between him...and Pelosi, this will certainly work !!!

We need "CHANGE"....and to remove the debris...would certainly be a "CHANGE"... in the road condition......

LOL IIRC correctly, the paving of the gravel lot and the pull-offs were a "shovel-ready" project and funded with stimulus money. Might as well protect the investment!

Heck , there was even a set of signs on 74 heading to the Dragon touting the use of stimulus funds for repairs on that road.

Would it help if we brought some shovels? I'm sure if we get two or three S's we could drag a couple of those boulders outta the way.
All Huskergirl needs to do is tell them she can't make it due to the rockslide... and they will clean the road!!

We told them the same thing about you and they piled more rocks on the road!

That's not a whole lot of rock. They'll have it moved pretty quick.
It's not the rock they need time moving, its the unstable outcropping sitting above. They need to get inflation balloons behind the rock to force the unstable stuff out. Normally, this would be done using explosives, but since a resevoir is right underneath it, TVA said that was a no-go. Bids for removal are supposedly starting soon, but this is definitely going to be much longer than just a quick cleanup and re-opening on the 26th.

That's what I was joking about with the comment earlier. All it takes is a little vibration (say...a buncha Harleys or single-pipe-3"-no-resonator-no-catalytic-converter-runnin' S2000s to cause an unstable situation to become...the end of the party.
