It sounds like the rock slide is blocking one entrace and they are blocking the other at the TN/NC line. I find it really hard to believe that they would block off the whole road until Aug though.

That's correct. For a number of reasons, including problems getting emergency services to the Dragon, TN has blocked it at the NC line. This is despite the fact that NC has offered to provide services until the slide is cleared.

If you haven't already friended Deals gap Motorcycle Resort on Facebook, go ahead and join. Brad is working the issue and providing updates.

As for the event, the organizers haven't talked yet, but Habitformig is right. If they can't get it open in time we'll publish other roads that are fun to drive and have a few more group drives. We did this before when the Dragon wasn't closed but was completely covered by TN LEO

^^^Mee too. But terrible news nonetheless. It seems like there are alot of rock slides in the general area from TDOT's website. I'm afraid that this might not be the last slide which could affect us, but I have my

I'll also try to look at the glass as half full -- at least if the area is more difficult to get to/through there will be less traffic.

Yes, unless something else changes, we'll be having the event. There are other great roads in the area, group drives, oh, and the people!
