'll be leading a somewhat spirited drive to Maryville, TN on Thursday. We'll leave Fontana from the upper parking lot around 1:00pm and drive the Dragon to Foothills Parkway or Happy Valley Road. We'll take one of those routes to Maryville, where we'll meet the OKI caravan. We'll then drive to Gatlinburg and have dinner at Park Grill. After dinner, we'll drive Foothills Parkway to the Tennessee side of the Dragon. We'll divide into two groups (Spirited and Newbie) and drive the Dragon at night. If you'd like to come along on this great adventure, just post. This drive is open to anyone who likes the Dragon, good food and great friends.

I can't fit you with new glasses, so this is the best I can do...

 

What are the time frames on your drive? Leave Fontana at 4pm? Dinner at 6pm? Im sure you wont have exact just curious of the general times you are thinking of.

They open for dinner around 5:00 or 5:30pm) After dinner, (7:30-8:00pm) we'll drive Foothills Parkway to the Tennessee side of the Dragon. Theseare approximate times (naturally), but are pretty close from the number of times I've led this drive so far.Times are dependent on traffic, the amount of squirrel herding required to get everyone together and pacing. If we take the Foothills Parkway, the speed limit is 45 so that's one variable, if we take Happy Valley, the speed limit is a bit more elastic but traffic can be worse. Traffic from Maryville to Gatlinburg is also a variable and naturally the amount of time for dinner varies as well with the number of people along on the drive. We've had as many as 45 cars and as few as 25.

That leaves a lot of time to lead a morning drive (a early morning drive to the Foothills Parkway Tower would be a great drive. Watching the sun come up over the mountains should be beautiful)

 

Ill join you guys for the drive to Maryville to meet up with my buddies coming in the group. From there Ill head back to the dragon. I have that much figured out so far. May as well just gather a group of guys wanting to do night runs from Fontana to meet you over at the dragon.
