National Park Service announced today that Foothills Parkway will be resurfaced beginning mid-March 2022 and continuing through May 2023. It should be an even nicer road when completed, but we will have to endure a year of construction and complete closure of some sections this summer.

From 3/14/22 to 5/21/22 - complete closure from Look Rock to 129/ Chilhowee Lake
From 6/1/22 to 8/31/22 - complete closure from Look Rock to 321/ Walland
Single lane closures until 5/5/23.

This excludes easy access to Foothills from the Dragon during RTD 2022. The Look Rock section can be bypassed using Happy Valley Road and Flats Road to connect to Foothills but A) Not clear exactly where the closure will start at Look Rock, and B) Happy Valley Road is narrow and rough. Better for your new Bronco or Land Rover!
