Edit - I just realized you map starts from Fontana Village so the 5 hours includes the first hour for the monster rollout so it's not as much as I thought, but still a lot.

Edit 2 - have you driven Yellow Creek road, I did a couple of trips ago and it was kinda sketchy. We might want to pre-drive it and make sure it's ok.
I drove Yellow Creek and Meadow Branch at the October event, and Yellow Branch is super twisty, on a mountainside...

I am going to a pre-drive on the Wednesday, or Thursday (depending on when Ken gets in the area), going down. I'll go over to Asheville and run the route form there. Darcy's outbound route is solid. May still tweak it, to see if we can find some time savings.

All - the routes I posted, the Outbound from Darcy's suggestion and the Inbound route, that hits all of our favorites, do need to be tweaked. I'm trying to do this from work. The military computers don't like the Google shortcuts that our cellphones like.

Once I get home from Lenten Vespers, I'll do a deeper dive. This, of course, is the first pass. We are 8 weeks out!

I've found after the roll out, we usually don't hit the trails until about 10:30. I've had to cut routes down on the fly- some have been a little too ambitious.
I'm sad we can't make the event this spring

I am going to have to second this reasoning. We might have to highway some part of this drive in order to get it done in a shorter time frame. I am still down but I am thinking about others who my sign up not realizing how long this one will be.

I'll be arriving on Tuesday afternoon so a Wednesday pre-drive is fine.

Jim here is a short cut from NC 215 to NC 209 bypassing the town of Waynesville. A local showed us it a couple of years ago. It will cut down on time for the drive.
