Default RtD 2021 - Jim's (Jamie) Saturday Drive to Find the "Bridge to Nowhere"

NOTE: Will be Re-Packaged for RtD 2021

Pace - Moderate to Semi-Spirited

When
Meet up across from the Harley Davidson store, after we are done with the Big Rollout.

The Route
A Moderate to semi-Spirited drive to TN-32, sometimes referred to as "the Baby Dragon". A super twisty road that will not disappoint.

Highlights
From the Harley-Davidson store
Foothills Parkway (old and new Sections), in order to bypass Gatlinburg.
Pick up US-321 on the east side of Gatlinburg, to TN 73, east to Cosby, TN, where will eat at the Magnolia Tree restaurant
After lunch (and gas), TN-32 and the baby Dragon is at our doorstep.
TN-32 to the Catalooche Valley Overlook. (This the section is the fun section WtD 2017 - the Canadian guys come up with the best drives!) - PICTURES!
From the Overlook, we'll come around the east side of the mountain, then drop into Dellwood, TN, to pick up US 74, back to TN-28 with a slippery downhill descent (where a Ford Windstar, driven by a NASCAR mechanic, passed us in the Summer 2016 edition of the Run), then back to Fontana for the Banquet.

Total drive time - 6 Hours, approx. 200 miles (includes Big Roll-out) with Food and Gas stops in Cosby, TN

Drive limited to 10 drivers!

Map - https://goo.gl/maps/JL1S8Ck7aTcdRHz6A (This will be updated, as Darcy recommended taking the Foothills Parkway (old and new sections) to bypass Gatlinburg)

As always...Download the map to your phone, so you have it Offline (ask me how!).

You must be talking about TN 35 north east of Gatlinburg, TN

Darcy posted the Canadian Drive from WtD 2017, which was my first meet with the 07 Berlina. The scratch on the bumper is from when we crossed the Appalachian Trail, to check the decent, thru the gravel, to finish the road and get over the the next mountain with the 1st gear switchbacks!

The map didn't show the road to nowhere, is it the one that goes out of bryston city up into the mountains (then you have to turn around), are you going to do that as part of the drive? I already signed up the Cherohala drive but I might go with you guys instead and try something different.

You may recall this drive from RTD 2017 that Canada Dave led. I'm coming down a day early to see if the drive past the Appalachian Trail goes up the mountain, or goes around it.

I saw you signed up for Cherohola. I just wanted to do something different.

Jamie. you will have to correct the route from how it is posted here. The short double switchback in gravel after crossing the appalation trail leads back to pavement but you have it continuing south which looks great on google maps until you figure out it is a 4x4 or ATV trail. The only exit that I have found is Interstate 40.
