For those seeking alternate lunches... There is a subway, a couple pizza places, and a wendys in Robbinsville, which is a 30 minute trip from the gas station - and more or less on the way to the Cherohala if that interests you.

Ravenwork, you bring up a good point about lunch. While Deal's Gap is convienent, feeding a group of 150+ people is just plain difficult for any small place. I may also bring lunch for myself and just pull up a roadside table in the shade, pull out my camera and take some pictures while having a bite to eat.
