MrWizard, from Raleigh, you are looking at about 6 hours to get into Alcoa. I don't know if anyone from Raleigh is coming to the event, other than HKStallion. But you'll need to PM him and see what time he plans on leaving.
The hotel will hold your room until you cancel or don't show. In which case, they charge your credit card.
I've known folks to show up for these events way past 2am!
Of course, looks like you would get in right around dinner time.
