Default Need a recap, PLEASE!

Dragon-Slayers!

Anyone care to give a recap of the whole weekend? I love a good story well-told, and would love to have one of those, "Beginning Thursday evening...." type of summaries. It might lessen the pain of missing WTD this year.

I've been hungrily devouring the pictures posted...some excellent shots.

Many questions....
- Did any tour busses get abused?
- Any pics of the "broken bear"...what about his replacement?
- Was there an indoor chocolate slip-and-slide?
- How much pool furniture ended up in the parking lot/hot tub?

You see where I'm headed.....

The hotel and weather hampered the stupidity that we all enjoyed last fall. It was quite cold Saturday night, so we tried to party inside, but the hotel told us we couldn't carry coolers of beer around. No chocolate slip and slide, no patio furniture, no bus abuse. We'll have to make up for it at DBR... and find a hotel that doesn't care if we walk around with bottles of Tequila in our pocket

Taska & I got good runs in on Thursday afternoon and Friday . Actually, also got good runs Saturday morning (before the...can we say "drizzle"?...if not, pretend I didn't say that word ). Still, great social event all weekend. I might have developed a grind in my driver's side CV joint (would have likely happened regardless of the drive).

One really cool thing was Saturday, Taska & Anna stepped in [a rather long] line for Dragon burgers, and Raul & I decided it would be in our best interest to run the Dragon while awaiting the order to be cooked up. The ladies did a great job, Raul jumped shotgun in The Bruised Banana, I ran the livin' hell outta The Dragon on the run down to the Gravel lot. Raul clapped and "WOOO-HOO'd" himself silly for the run. . When we returned, the food just arrived at the table...all warm and ready to eat! .

Oh...we missed the HECK outta you two! . A number of times I heard that comment made this past weekend.

Sheila - I did have a slip-n-slide with me. It was a double one so we could race. However, the weather was uncooperative and I don't think the hotel would've liked it if we set up the hose & the s-n-s inside! There's always DBR '05!

The bar/lounge in the middle of the hotel was supposed to be open til 1am each night....but kept doing 'last call' before midnight!

There was a romance writers convention going on. Didn't look like many of the writers were getting any romance other than in their minds!

Dinner at the hotel on Sat night was so fun! A bunch of us won prizes and it was good to get together for a few hours.

Saturday night we got to watch a video taken by MistaSnipes of his ride on the Dragon w/ Billman250. What a cool thing that was to watch! About 50 of us were in the lounge watching this on the big screen TV ooh-ing and aah-ing.

We missed having you & Ron there!!!

This is not meant to be ugly...folks have glandular problems ...I understand. But while the following comment might be something to add to the "interesting WTD quotes" thread, I found the following particularly humorous:

Sunday morning we're packing the car up. Not *brutally* cold outside...but I'm definitely layered...and still chilly. Then, a "Romance Writer" stepped outside the motel and commented, "Mmmmm, its really niiiiiice out here this morning!"...um, like she was HAPPY it was nearly freezing cold outside! . Homeo-thermostatic-regulatory issue I'm guessing .

And not to be outdone, another Romance Writer came out to pack up and was in shorts, a t-shirt, and flip-flops. All of which caused my eyes to hurt unnecessarily ...but I seriously could not believe that she was comfortable walking around like that. Only thing that made it entirely funny was when she finished removing her stuff from the Hilton's brass luggage/roll-cart, an S2000 owner swooped in and stole it when her back was turned. Moments later I heard her mutter, "Someone took my cart!"

Sheila, we really missed not seeing you and Ron this time. I kept thinking that we were missing someone and then I remembered Smccoy and Ron isn't here! Hope you can make the August run.
