A helluva great point Bryan

I wonder if we could do something...... Remember Garret and how he mounted a flag down the backside of his seat/rollhoop? Do you think it would take much to make a contraption? I'd be willing to pay for a small banner (vented)... But even then, there could be some logistics...... Hmm...the drive *to* The Dragon won't be no 30mph ...so any chance you'd have a "+1" in the car with you that could attach the banner as we roll onto The Dragon? While you're rolling?

But regardless...it does present an imperatively good idea. We'll be rolling there's no doubt about it. I really don't anticipate us getting into "parking lot" status by any means. But the idea that we'd be travelling at a uniform 30mph...well whether we like it or not, that *is* the speed limit anyway . So drivers can piss-n-moan if they wanna...but for that one go, and considering we'd be running the speed limit more than likely...who's to say boo?

But a banner definitely would catch attention and maybe "settle down" those that would think (oh, say crotch rockets )..."I'll just pass these 3 cars I see ahead of me around the curve"...only to find 99 more . A banner is a great idea .

And I'm not selling the "flagpoles" idea over any other. If you have a better suggestion, bring it on . I just know that something off the rear of the car is going to generate a "whipping" of the banner against paint .

WAAAIT!!! We tape the banner to the "top" of your softtop . You're driving all the way out to The Dragon top-down. You then kick in that pimped out "rolling-top-down" (in this case, "partially up" ) mod sending your softtop halfway up so that the banner presents directly to those behind you. You'd be doing 30mph or so...and I've done that roll a number of times with no problems. Whatcha think???!!!

BTW, I've sent an e-mail to Killboy.com soliciting them for their wonderful shutterbug services. Hoping they'll make themselves available both [hopefully] on The Dragon as early as we plan to arrive with our Monster Rollout...and possibly even at the top of Fontana Dam (to take stills of our cars at the bottom of Fontana).

For those that don't know otherwise www.killboy.com is a fantastic photog site that makes its $$$ by staking out great points along The Dragon. They take pics during weekends, then post them up on a for-purchase order opportunity for all folks that visit their site. Those of us that know this , take advantage about a week after we've come home from events such as WTD (cuz it can take them as much as a week to get everything sorted & uploaded)...and view/order a tremendous assortment of pics. Killboy.com puts your ordered pics on a CD and mails them to you . Veeeeeery niiiiiiiiiiiice service!

I've made killboy.com aware of this thread and hopefully, they'll support our plans (I'm assuming these are supportable as there's been very positive comments already ).

I've also asked Killboy.com to consider sponsoring the event as well. Maybe some free pics when you order, etc. for a lucky drawing winner or two when Raul draws sponsor prizes Saturday evening . But there is no agreement on anything as of yet... Just making folks aware that I'm trying to get this in the works for us

I didn't have time to get the 20D I was going to use for photographs .. but I still have my old Nikon to use.. I could go ahead of everyone in the Integra (instead of riding shotgun in an S) and take pictures of the roll through.. and or if anybody had a video camera I could set that up too. I'm not gonna charge for pics if anybody wants them. I'll give the files away for free once downloaded.

I was just up there this weekend and the campground lake parking lot is way more than enough room for everybody if need be. but there are some good ideas brewing with what you got suggested Dave.. Hopefull we'll get a consensus pretty quick.

I think this is a great idea. There are going to be plenty of us down there before Saturday making runs so that the spirited group might not be as big as you might suspect on Saturday. Going down on Wednesday and leaving on Monday, I plan to spend Saturday with a camera or getting lost in some redneck neighborhood again

Just last year, when we had a little over 80 cars, we couldn't squeeze everyone on the gravel and I feel much better about taking my car through some grass at the base of Fontana than pulling off into that lowered gravel - there are a bunch of us who need to do that at less than 5 MPH - can you imagine the traffic jam that will cause

On top of that, pictures at the gravel entrance pull off didn't turn out that great last year - there really isn't anywhere to get every car in the shot when you get over 80 of them - even with Skip climbing the mountain

Wingy, this is an "Awesome" idea! As long as we have the pre-drive meet at the hotel, and "ALL" know what's going on! Besides, it would give the "Newbies" a chance to get "THE-FEEL" of what they are in for!! We always do pics when everyone is lining up to GO! We can just take them at the hotel, prior to hitting the road down. I assume we will be heading down 321 to the Foothills Parkway? We can group our line up on the parkway, prior to turning left onto 129.I can remember, like 82 last year, but 107+ is going to be "Unbelievable" !!

Hey,
Do you think we could get the Sheriff's helicopter that "escorted" a group of us all the way down the Dragon last year to shoot some aerial video?

^^^ Errrmm...rather not .

Actually, not sure, but I believe I was reading on tailofthedragon.com that the 'copter might be sold now? But not to be deterred...they definitely have at least one black unmarked baddie that will travel the roads with radar at the first sight/sound of misbehavior
