Knoxville: Who wants to eat where?
#1
Okay folks! As of this post, we're up to 113 enthusiasts . And that's a LOT of mouths that wanna eat & imbibe in various liquids. Personally I'm happy that Raul has opted this WTD to leave it up to each of us to figure out where we wanna eat out Friday & Saturday evening . In past WTDs & DBs our wonderful organizer has attempted to get us all reserved into a single restaurant. Typically, while this has boded well for us to socialize...there'd be a real "shoehorn" effort by the restaurant staff. And with this WTD, we can certainly anticipate more folks than ever before.
Soooooo...we'll be in Knoxville...and we'll be hungry in the evenings. I thought I'd post this thread to allow folks to consider reviewing various restaurants (<== guide/search linked here) that participants might want to review. My thoughts were...if you see something you *definitely* wanna check out...then post back here!! . More than likely, some of your fellow members would also like to eat there too!
And then there's...later ... If folks want to consider some bars (<== guide/search linked here) take a look here.
So this thread is offered to allow the WTD participants an opportunity to organize evening restaurant and/or bar plans. I'll be more than happy to keep this initial post updated with who plans to eat where... Just thought it might save some time and help folks get a chance to socialize with each other, knowing where they wanna go for dinner, etc. over the weekend!
Ideas For Eats
Carraba's -- Friday
Outback -- Friday
Mellow Mushroom -- Saturday 7pm 2109 Cumberland Ave on campus
Outback -- Saturday
McDonalds Drive-Thru (and order water) -- Friday or Saturday
Cruise Local High Schools (and order "") -- not mentioning the day...so Dave doesn't get easily arrested
Only slightly scarier than HKStallion cruzin' for chickies......we now have: Order in, Drink beer, and Play ...pigs ""...no real date set, but assumption is Friday evening if folks arrive late

In my experience, citysearch reviews have been spotty... So take the reviews with a grain of salt.
There are 3 or 4 good restaurants within walking distance of the event hotel; those unfamiliar with Knoxville would be best staying in that area, I imagine.

I just used city search to offer folks a means to see the names/locations of restaurants & bars. Not really the rating of them. When I travel 9 hours to get to a town that I know nothing about...I really would like to know in advance where I wanna eat.
Billy...list off the names of the 3 or 4 good restaurants within walking distance. That'd be a good start for folks to begin considering where they'd like to meet up with others for dinner, etc.
Thanks,
Dave

Many thanks for this Dave. We are certainly boosting the economy within that area for the weekend. Nearly $8k at the hotel alone. Imagine the eating (and drinking) establishments. I have to say that I am also very happy that dinner is not a coordinated effort with Wake the Dragon.
