Default Ideas - How to keep Semi's off The Dragon

I'll come back to this OP with my own thoughts shortly... But all of us can appreciate the anxiety over life and vehicle that is posed by any semi-trailer that inadvertently (or otherwise ) finds itself on The Dragon.

So post your thoughts here on how a truck driver might best be warned NOT to drive his or her rig on The Dragon. I'll be happy to submit these posted ideas to the proper county officials. Maybe something good can come from it. Heck...TN already has all that allocated money to fund cops to patrol, right? ...

So think some ideas up and post 'em here!

Thanks,
Dave

As a professional driver (I have a CDL, that counts me as professional, right? ), I would never take a semi down this road. I would not take a 40' bus. Now a 30' bus maybe ...

But the drivers of the semis have to know that they cannot make some of the turns without crossing into oncoming traffic. They have to know the dangers. Knowing the danger and driving there anyways and putting someone else in danger adds up to negligence. There is a whole new can of worm to open right there.

Dave, if tractor trailers were restricted, what kind of route
would they have to take to go around it?

May be tough to get a restriction if the alternate route is
a lot of extra miles, especially with diesel prices going
through the roof...I saw $4.45 a gallon on the way home.

That's an EXCELLENT point, oversteer (sorry don't know your name)

If they can't make turns on the road without crossing the
yellow line then they should not be allowed on the road. Same
with cars towing trailers, busses, etc.

I thought I had heard somewhere that they were going this route to avoid scales?

oh great, it's not bad enough having tractor trailers on there
but it's the overweight loads using it!

I don't understand a tractor trailer WANTING to use that road,
one false move and they are done!

I think a lot of the semi traffic comes through there by accident. Seems like a great short cut. On the map you can't tell how bad the road really is.

Good news is that me and my wife are ok and home in one piece. I went into that corner @ 15 mph and saw the headlights of semi right in front of me. I threw the car in the ditch to avoid the semi and his trailer struck my car dragging us 5ft back. People @ deals gap gas station and S2ki member were amazing thanks for the help guys. Do you guys think its a total?
