What can you theoretically get away with on the highway? Popular Mechanics gathered speeding info from all 50 states (and just in case your car is amphibious, Puerto Rico). Read it HERE.

I was wondering how many people would catch that. The South Carolina cops just commute from Rhode Island.

In VA anything 20 mph over the speed limit is considered reckless driving. He happened to be doing 93 in a 55 mph zone. The way I figure it, that's roughly 38 mph over the speed limit. He was also on Rt 211 which, in places, is difficult to maintain 55mph, much less go 93. The sentence he got was actually pretty lenient. By Commonwealth law, the car could have been confiscated, he could have faced an additional $380 fine in addition to what he got, his license could have been suspended for 24 months, and he could have been in the slammer for up to a year.
