Home Safe from DBR XI
#61
i arrived homeon Wednesday afternoon around 4 PM. It was decidely not a great DBR for me, since My car was at Airport Honda in Alcoa for the entire event. To make matters worse, my super charger grenaded on the way home. I have'nt had the heart to tear it down yet and see what the problem was, but I suspect that the oil supply line to the bottom of the SC was kinked when they replaced my clutch. 5 days of a rented Dodge, hotel rooms and Dealer waiting lounge have put me in a very depressed mood. It really kind of pisses me off to think that I have just invested all this cash in my car, only to have every single piece of it fail, and all the vendors, Honda Techs and others start scurrying fo rthe dark corners when its time to own the problem, My head hurts!
Wish I could offer some words to make you feel better.... but they probably would just get you mores pissed!

the amazing thing is that despite the crap dave was dealing with, he was still thinking about the group when he mentioned that he may add a poker run stop at the top of the hill climb road...which i have to say would be a most awesome idea.
really sorry to hear about all this dave...look at the bright side, you have 7 months to get her better

Thanks all for the support. It is appreciated. I'll post up more on my results getting things fixed and back in operation. It's going to take time to have Paxton evaluate the SC and then let me know if it is recoverable. As it turns out, I could not dismount it this weekend. I'm short a 1/4" allen key for the mounting bolts, so I'll be making a trip to the tool store today or tommorrow. ( I just love a good excuse to buy new tools). It will likely take a couple of weeks to get the evaluation and then approve the rebuild or replacement. Add a couple of more weeks to install, service and tune, and maybe I can have it ready to park in the garage for the winter. (insurance co. enforced 3 month park starts in December). Oh well, I really do enjoy working on the car - I learn something new everytime, I just wish the lessons weren't soooooo expensive!

Still sitting right where I parked it last month . I really haven't had the time to do much with it. the supercharger is dismounted, but I am having a hell of atime getting the bolts broke loose from the mount. the preliminary verdict is the bolt holding the drive pulley on the SC shaft backed out and allowed the key to work out and then - well all hell broke loose. The resulting wear on the supercharger shaft will likely require the shaft to be replaced. At some point in the next month of two, I'll send it to Paxton for evaluation and repair / replacement. But, I have to wait till my funds replenish a little. Lately, I have been hit with a rather large number of very very expensive issues that, well, leave me short of ready cash for the car. so to answer your question, the car is NO JOY right now. ( I'm soooo depressed).
